Sawai Madhopur. ‘Save MNREGA Sangram’ campaign has been launched by Congress across the country. Under this, Congressmen protested by holding a symbolic fast in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. Congress is opposing the renaming of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) to Vikas Bharat-Ji Ram Ji and the amendments made in the scheme. Congress started ‘Save MNREGA Sangram’. In this sequence, a one-day fast and protest program was organized at Ambedkar Circle under the MNREGA Bachao Sangram Jan Andolan on behalf of District Congress Committee Sawai Madhopur. Congress leaders including AICC Secretary Danish Abrar, Assembly Deputy Leader and Gangapur MLA Ramkesh Meena, Bamanwas MLA and District President Indira Meena were present in the dharna. MLA Ramkesh Meena, while addressing the Congressmen, targeted the government. District President Indira Meena said that Congress has launched MNREGA Bachao Sangram campaign in the entire country. A protest was held in Sawai Madhopur on Sunday under the banner of District Congress Committee. He said that earlier the ratio of Central and State Government in MNREGA was 90:10, which has now been reduced to 60:40. He said that the District Congress Committee will continue to protest in different ways till January 29.
Let us tell you that Congress started ‘Save MNREGA Sangram’ across the country on Saturday. Under this campaign, press conferences were organized in all the District Congress Committee offices. The party said that it will continue to struggle to protect people’s constitutional right ‘right to work’ until this right is completely protected.
Congress MP and party’s communication in-charge general secretary Jairam Ramesh, while posting on the social media platform ‘X’, had said that the Indian National Congress has started the MNREGA Bachao Sangram through press conferences in all the District Congress Committee offices across the country. Congress will continue this movement until the rights to work, livelihood and accountability are completely restored. Jairam Ramesh alleged that the central government has taken away these rights from the people by weakening MNREGA.
