During this time, Gippy Grewal talked about his first hit song Phulkari and said, “People say that your luck changes after marriage. After marriage, a song from my third album was selected and it proved to be my first hit song. It was used in every marriage and that song changed my life.”
Security guard job to run the house
Gippy Grewal told that he did not get much profit from the success of this song. That’s why he had to do many types of work to earn his living. Talking about this, he said, “At that time, I used to work as a security guard. My song Chutkule Hi had become a hit, but I had to earn money to survive and for the family. I knew that unless I earn well as a performer or singer, I will have to do a job to meet the household expenses.”

Gippy Grewal further said, “I had to struggle a lot till my second album. I used to work three to four jobs. When I came back home, it was already 4 in the morning. After that, I would pick up my wife from home and then both of us would distribute newspapers for the next two hours. Then I would sleep and my wife would go for other work.”
Singer also cleaned toilets
Talking further on this, the singer said, “My wife used to go to work at Subway at 6 in the morning and used to work there till 4 in the evening. Later she left that job and we took a cleaning contract in a mall. Where my wife used to clean the trays and I used to mop. I had to do everything and I even had to clean the toilets.”
Gippy Grewal told that, “For doing other jobs, I used to get only 8 dollars. But for cleaning work in the mall, I used to get 13 dollars. Just like the work of distributing newspapers, similarly my wife and I used to think that this is our time to spend together. That is why we used to keep talking the whole time and that work too would be finished in 2 hours.”
