Muzaffarnagar, November 3 (). A tragic incident came to light on Monday morning in Ramraj police station area of Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, when a girl who had completed her engineering studies from an IIT jumped into the Ganga barrage after failing in the UPSC exam. There was chaos in the area after the incident.
Local people immediately informed the police, after which a team of police and divers reached the spot and started the rescue operation. However, no trace of the girl has been found yet.
According to the information, the name of the girl is Lalita (26 years), daughter of Ved Prakash. She is a resident of village Khanpur of Chandpur police station area of Bijnor district and was currently living in Gyan Vihar, Bijnor.
It is being told that Lalita had completed her engineering studies from IIT Kanpur and was preparing for UPSC exam for the last few years. She was suffering from mental stress for some time due to lack of success despite several attempts.
It is being told that Lalita reached Ganga Barrage with her cousin sister on Monday morning and jumped into the river from gate number 25 of Ganga Barrage. The girl who was accompanying her raised an alarm, due to which people present nearby ran towards the spot. Local people immediately informed the police about this incident.
Police station Ramraj reached the spot and started the rescue operation with the help of divers. Since morning, police and divers are continuously conducting search operations in the Ganga. Intensive search is also being done in the areas around the barrage, but till now no trace of Lalita has been found. Police officials said that every possible effort is being made to find the girl.
In the initial investigation, it appears to be a case of suicide due to stress. The police have informed the family. There is deep grief and concern in the area due to this incident.
