09 March, New Delhi (). Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha JP Nadda, while targeting the opposition, said, I have to say with sadness that the behavior of the opposition has been extremely irresponsible. This is condemnable and the more it is criticized the less it is. He said that it seems that the opposition is neither interested in the interest of the country nor in serious discussion.
Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha JP Nadda targeted the opposition and said, the aim of the opposition is only to create chaos in the House. In fact, on Monday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was giving information in the Rajya Sabha about the situation arising out of the Iran-Israel war and the security of Indian citizens present in various countries of the Middle East. During this time there was a huge uproar in the house.
Amidst the uproar the Foreign Minister gave his statement. Along with sloganeering, the opposition also walked out of the House. After this, Leader of the House JP Nadda targeted the opposition. Nadda said that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has presented his views in detail in the House on the current situation in West Asia. He has clarified how the government is handling this crisis situation and how it is moving ahead in the face of various challenges.
Nadda said that the questions raised by the opposition regarding energy security have also been highlighted in detail. He has said that the government is fully alert in this entire matter, is active and is constantly keeping an eye on every situation. The government is moving forward keeping in mind the needs of the people of India and the country.
He said that the Leader of the Opposition (Mallikarjun Kharge) was given the opportunity to speak under Rajya Sabha Rule 176, but the Leader of the Opposition started discussing other issues by digressing from the topic. He knew that the Foreign Minister was going to give detailed information on this subject, yet he tried to divert the discussion. The history of the opposition has also been that when there is a serious discussion, instead of participating in it, they create ruckus or walk out. For example, when electoral reforms were discussed in December 2025, the debate lasted for about 16–18 hours. But when the time came for the government to respond, the opposition walked out.
Similarly, in August 2025, when India’s space program and the role of Indian astronauts in the International Space Station were being discussed, the opposition did not participate in that discussion. Apart from this, when the incidents of Operation Sindoor and Pahalgam were discussed for 16 hours and when Home Minister Amit Shah had to answer, the opposition also walked out of the House. The same thing happened during the budget discussion. Even when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stood up to reply, the opposition walked out.
Nadda said that the behavior of the opposition is very irresponsible and also condemnable, it cannot be condemned enough. He said that therefore this record clearly shows that the opposition is not focused on the interests of the country. They have no interest in moving towards India’s development, developed India or self-reliant India. Their aim is only to take political advantage, but the country will continue to move forward under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
