Islamabad. On Wednesday, unknown assailants opened fire on Badan police post located in Wara Mamond tehsil of Bajaur district of Pakistan. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Daulat Khan died in the attack.


Local media quoted the police as saying that after the attack, the police surrounded the area and started a search operation in search of the suspects. Pakistan’s leading newspaper, The Express Tribune, reported that incidents of attacks on security forces have increased in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the last one month. Earlier on February 26, the Ababil police patrolling team was attacked by unknown people in Nawakalay area of ​​Khar tehsil of Bajaur, in which four policemen were killed and two others were injured. Meanwhile, on February 14, Additional Station House Officer (SHO) Gul Mano Din was killed in firing by unknown gunmen at Wara Mamond police station.
Meanwhile, a report by an Islamabad-based think tank has revealed that conflict-related deaths in Pakistan recorded a 30 percent increase in February due to a rise in suicide attacks across the country.
According to Dawn, another major newspaper of Pakistan, a report by Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) revealed that there were 470 deaths and 333 injuries in February. The victims include 96 civilians, 80 security force personnel and 294 militants. The injured include 259 civilians, 50 security force personnel and 24 militants.
This data shows that compared to January, there has been an increase of 74 percent in the deaths of security forces, 32 percent in the deaths of civilians and 21 percent in the deaths of militants. In February, 53 security personnel and six civilians were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 35 security personnel and 48 civilians were injured.
During this period, three suicide attacks took place in the province, killing 17 people, including 14 security personnel, and injuring 20. A suicide attack in Islamabad killed 34 people and injured 165 others. Apart from this, two policemen were killed and four others were injured in a suicide attack in Bhakkar district of Punjab province.
A total of eight suicide attacks were recorded in January and February this year, almost half of the 17 incidents recorded in the whole of 2025. According to PICSS data, a total of 831 conflict-related deaths were recorded in the first two months of 2026, including 536 militants, 169 civilians and 126 security personnel. –
