Ranchi, March 26 (). On Thursday, a minor dispute between two groups of youth in Ranchi’s Pandara OP area turned violent. The fight that started over playing cricket in Bank Colony area turned into fierce fighting and stone pelting between two groups, after which the incident of aerial firing by some people spread panic in the entire area.

According to local people, initially there was an altercation between the two groups, which soon turned into a confrontation. Within no time a large number of youths came face to face and started pelting stones heavily from both sides. Meanwhile, some people took out weapons and started firing.

Eyewitnesses claim that about six rounds of bullets were fired, although police have confirmed two rounds of firing. As soon as information about the incident was received, there was panic in the area. The residents of Bank Colony immediately informed the police. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Ranchi Rural SP, City SP and Kotwali DSP reached the spot with heavy police force. The police surrounded the area and tried to control the situation and launched a search operation.

During the police action, more than half a dozen suspects have been detained and are being interrogated. Several empty shells have also been recovered from the spot, which has confirmed firing. Ranchi City SP Paras Rana said that on Wednesday also there was a dispute between the two groups, which reached the level of fighting. In the same dispute, both the parties came face to face again on Thursday and the situation became violent.

He said that some people were injured in stone pelting and fighting and are being treated. Police officials say that the entire matter is being thoroughly investigated and no one involved in the violence will be spared. At present, additional police force has been deployed in the area and the situation is being monitored.
