Jodhpur. There has been a stir in the health department due to the deteriorating health of the mothers in the division’s largest maternal and child health institute (Zanana Hospital), Umaid. According to the hospital administration, 2 women have been kept on ventilator support due to their critical condition, while 3 others are undergoing treatment in the ICU. The team of expert doctors is continuously monitoring. Orders have been given to investigate the reasons behind the matter. On the other hand, there are complaints of long queues of patients in the hospital and misbehavior with the patients by the home guards. The administration has given instructions to take all necessary precautions.
But the ground reality is telling something else. Umaid Hospital, which is called the biggest referral center of the division, is in the news these days for negligence and filth. Heaps of garbage outside the labor room, drains are leaking, there is neither water nor cleanliness in the toilet. The patients are suffering and the home guards are teaching the lesson of “Stand in line” with sticks.
On one side, doctors are talking about “monitoring” on camera, on the other side, patients are lying on the ground waiting for a bed. The administration’s statement is “all precautions are being taken”. The public has a question – if precautions were being taken then how did 5 pregnant women reach ICU?
Ventilator was found in Umaid, but humanity and cleanliness are still not found.
