Patna High Court will get 9 new judges, Supreme Court Collegium recommended these names

Patna High Court will soon get nine new judges. The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the names of nine lawyers for appointment as judges in the Patna High Court. The collegium met on Thursday, in which the proposal to make these lawyers judges was approved.

The Supreme Court Collegium discussed the names of Mohammad Nadeem Seraj, Ranjan Kumar Jha, Kumar Manish, Sanjeev Kumar, Girijesh Kumar, Alok Kumar, Raj Kumar, Rana Vikram Singh and Vikas Kumar. These names will now be handed over to the Central Government.

Patna High Court is currently functioning with a staff of 38 judges. Chief Justice S.K. Three judges including Sahu are going to retire this year. The total sanctioned posts in Patna High Court are 53. Therefore, it is clear that even after the appointment of nine new judges, a large number of posts will remain vacant.

Patna High Court is facing shortage of judges not only recently but for a long time. This is directly affecting his work. At present, about half of the total judges are working in the High Court. The number of judges is much less than the sanctioned strength. Because of this, hearings are being affected, and the backlog of cases is increasing. The appointment of new judges will directly increase the workload.

When will the final decision be taken?

The collegium first sends the suggested names to the Central Government. After the names are approved by the Central Government, the President issues a notification for the appointment. Only after that the appointment process is completed.
