Guwahati, May 22 (). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and newly elected MLA Bhupen Kumar Bora on Friday launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his recent comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He claimed that Congress leaders have failed to gain the trust and support of the people of the country.
Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Bora said that Rahul Gandhi had long aspired to become the Prime Minister of the country, but the people of India had repeatedly rejected his leadership.
He further said that Rahul Gandhi wanted to become the Prime Minister of the country. He could not become the Prime Minister because the people of the country did not want him on this post.
The BJP MLA stressed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return to power for the third consecutive time shows the public’s faith and trust in his leadership and governance. Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country thrice because the people of the country wanted to see him leading India.
Criticizing the tone and language allegedly used by Rahul Gandhi targeting the Prime Minister, Bora said such statements were further damaging the public image and political acceptability of the Congress leader.
The BJP leader remarked that the kind of words he uses against our Prime Minister are making him (Rahul Gandhi) even less acceptable among the public.
Ahead of the recently concluded Assam Assembly elections, Bhupen Kumar Bora quitting Congress and joining BJP had attracted a lot of attention in the political circles of the state.
Former Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bora joined the BJP just before the assembly elections. After he joined the party, BJP made him its candidate from Bihpuria assembly constituency, where he won in the state elections.
The ruling BJP-led NDA alliance secured a decisive mandate in the Assam assembly elections, paving the way for the formation of a new government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
