There are millions of PF account holders in India whose jobs, savings and future plans are directly linked to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Therefore, every new feature related to EPFO is very important for these employees. Now, there is a big good news for lakhs of employees.
From April 2026, EPF account holders will be able to withdraw their PF money directly through UPI. This facility will be especially beneficial for those people who currently face difficulty in withdrawing money from the online portal. Under the new system, withdrawal of money from PF will start from BHIM app.
Employees will be able to access their EPFO linked PF account by opening the BHIM app on their mobile phones. The money will be transferred directly to the bank account linked to their UPI ID. This will significantly reduce the need to fill long forms and wait for several days.
On the BHIM app, employees will not only be able to withdraw money but will also be able to check their PF balance instantly. The app will clearly display the total deposit amount, amount available for withdrawal and the minimum balance required to be maintained in the account.
Initially, after using the BHIM app, PF account holders can link their accounts to other UPI apps. This link will be to the bank account linked to their Aadhar card. Once this feature is launched, employees will be able to submit withdrawal requests directly through any UPI app like Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm.
After this the money will be credited to their account within a few minutes. To avail this facility, certain conditions have to be fulfilled. Your UAN (Universal Account Number) must be active. Your Aadhaar, PAN and bank account must be linked and verified with your UAN. Also, to avoid any problem in OTP and verification, the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar should be active.
Once this feature goes live, employees will be able to submit withdrawal requests through their BHIM UPI app. As soon as the request is submitted, the EPFO system will automatically verify the details and immediately transfer the money to the linked bank account.
