During the budget session of Rajasthan Assembly on Thursday, Congress MLAs under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie opened a front against the BJP government at the Center and the state. During the protest in the Assembly premises, Julie directly attacked the Prime Minister regarding the India-US trade deal and later showed the mirror to the government while discussing the demands for grants for Panchayati Raj and rural development inside the House. While interacting with the media in the Assembly complex, Tikaram Julie said that today the entire country is demanding clarification from the Prime Minister on sensitive issues like India-America trade deal and security. Making serious allegations, he said, “The interests of India’s farmers and small traders have been sidelined in this trade deal. The way the government has surrendered, it clearly shows that ‘PM is compromised’. Mortgaging one’s sovereignty to foreign powers is extremely shameful, which the country will never forgive.”
After this, during the discussion in the House, Julie attacked the ‘double character’ of BJP. He reminded that the BJP is bent upon uprooting the sapling of Panchayati Raj which Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had planted from the land of Nagaur. Julie roared and said that as per the rules, elections should be held in 5 years, but by stalling the elections, the government trapped Rs 3000 crore of the state in the Centre. “Those who are strangulating constitutional institutions, with what mouth do they talk about the Constitution?”
Leader of Opposition cornered the government on the issue of MGNREGA and said that BJP has always been having a ‘stomach ache’ due to this revolutionary scheme of Congress. Conspiracy exposed: The Center has created a conspiracy to gradually end NREGA by increasing the share of the states by making changes in the Act. Earlier the Centre’s share was 90%, which is now being imposed on the state.
Challenge to the government: “Do you have the courage to provide 125 days of employment? For this, Rs 21,000 crore is required, whereas this government does not even have the money to pay salaries to the employees.”
Taunt on Chief Minister’s Delhi visits: Taking a dig at the functioning of the government, Julie said that the Chief Minister goes to Delhi every day and claims that he is making ‘arrangements’, but in reality Rajasthan is empty handed. “How will the government, which is not able to give 10% of the money, fulfill its 40% share? First three black laws and now surrender in the trade deal? BJP has crossed the heights of betrayal of the farmers. Remember, the plight of the poor and farmers is very bad.”
