Greater Noida. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated Phase 1 of Noida International Airport in Jewar, a significant milestone for India’s aviation sector. Noida International Airport has been developed as the second international airport for the Delhi NCR region, complementing Indira Gandhi International Airport. Together, these two airports will act as an integrated aviation system, thereby reducing congestion, increasing passenger capacity and positioning Delhi NCR as a leading global aviation hub. Noida International Airport is one of the largest greenfield airport projects in India. The first phase of Noida International Airport has been developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model with a total investment of about Rs 11,200 crore. The passenger handling capacity of the airport will be 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA) in the initial phase, which will increase to 70 MPPA by the time the airport is fully developed. It has a 3,900 meter long runway which is capable of handling large sized aircraft. It also has modern navigation systems including Instrument Landing System (ILS) and advanced airfield lighting to enable efficient day and night operations in all weather conditions.
