New Delhi . PM Modi will hold talks with Cyprus President Nicos Christodoulides in New Delhi on Friday. The objective of this meeting is to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity and regional issues. Cyprus President Nicos Christodoulides arrived in the national capital on Thursday, where he was welcomed at the airport by Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta. “President of Cyprus Nicos Christodoulides is warmly welcomed on his arrival in New Delhi. After his visit to Mumbai, he arrived in New Delhi. He was given a ceremonial welcome and guard of honor and was warmly welcomed by Union Minister Ajay Tamta,” the Ministry of External Affairs wrote on social media platform X.
Cyprus President Christodoulides will meet President Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi. President Murmu will also host an official banquet in his honour. Foreign Minister Jaishankar will meet the Cyprus President before meeting Prime Minister Modi on Friday morning. The meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Christodoulides will be held at Hyderabad House.
Christodoulides described his visit to India as “extremely important”. He said that this would prove to be an important milestone in further strengthening the already existing “excellent” relations between the two countries.
Before coming to New Delhi, Christodoulides visited Mumbai as part of his visit to India. He is also accompanied by a high-level delegation, which includes Cyprus Foreign Minister Custance, Transport Minister Alexis, senior officials and businessmen. The visit is expected to further strengthen economic and strategic relations between India and Cyprus.
Earlier on Thursday, Christodoulides along with National Stock Exchange (NSE) Chairman Srinivas Injeti and Managing Director and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan rang the bell of NSE India in Mumbai.
“The visit also included a visit to the NSE campus. This was followed by fruitful discussions with our leadership team on strengthening bilateral relations and new opportunities for cooperation,” NSE India wrote on Twitter.
