US President Donald Trump has made a big announcement regarding the tariffs imposed on India. America has reduced the tariff to 18 percent. After this announcement, the Congress party has reacted by criticizing the Modi government.
On Tuesday (February 3), the Congress party posted on social media platform It was claimed that this trade deal was being done “at the request of Modi”. The post further said that Trump said that India will reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers on American goods to 0 percent.
Congress raised questions
The Congress party criticized the Modi government and said that this means that they have opened the entire market to America. This will cause great harm to Indian industry, and the government has abandoned Indian businessmen and farmers. After Trump’s statement, Congress asked the Modi government what deal has been done regarding opening the agriculture sector to America? Have the interests of our farmers been protected, or have they also been abandoned? How will the safety of our farmers be ensured?
What happened to ‘Make in India’? – Congress
The government was also questioned on Trump’s statement that Modi will not buy oil from Russia but from America and Venezuela. Has Modi government agreed to leave Russia out of the trade deal? Apart from this, there was talk of purchasing more goods from America. If so, what happened to ‘Make in India’? Congress said that the country has the right to know what issues were discussed in the trade deal and what decisions were taken. Modi government should share all this information with the country and Parliament.
