Jammu, May 12 (). BJP MLA Arvind Gupta welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal and said that the Prime Minister’s message reflects concern about the global and economic challenges facing the country. At the same time, Deepak Gupta, President of Jammu and Kashmir Trade Federation, Nehru Market, also supported PM Modi’s appeal and called it an important step in the national interest.
BJP MLA Arvind Gupta said, “India is moving towards becoming a developed nation with a vision of 2047. Prime Minister Modi’s appeals during Covid helped the country overcome the pandemic, while also ensuring the welfare of 140 crore people while keeping the economy stable. India not only developed vaccines domestically, but also supplied them globally. Post-Covid, the Russia-Ukraine war and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East have affected economies around the world. But the government has ensured that citizens do not have to bear the burden. Prime Minister Modi has now appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary foreign travel, use electric vehicles, public transport and car pooling and not buy gold for a year. This appeal is in the national interest and people should implement it.
Speaking to news agency , Deepak Gupta said, “The Prime Minister’s appeal is in the national interest. Due to the global situation, oil prices in neighboring countries skyrocketed and restaurants also closed, but this did not happen in India. The Prime Minister has appealed to reduce imports, be it oil, diesel, clothes or other items. For example, India produces mustard oil domestically, but still imports soybean and sunflower oil. In such a situation, using less will reduce imports. And there will be saving of foreign currency, especially when the dollar has become expensive, which clearly shows his intention to strengthen the country and promote ‘Make in India’. We will also try to reduce oil consumption in the family. Such steps will help India to move towards becoming a global leader.
He further said, “Mustard and refined oil are used extensively in India. About 99.9 per cent of mustard oil is produced in India, so there is no shortage of it, but most of the refined oil is imported from abroad. We should focus on spending in India and promoting domestic products.”
