Chandigarh. Punjab Water Resources and Land and Water Conservation Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal today launched irrigation projects worth Rs 13 crore in village Mankamajra and Dahleez Khurd of Amargarh assembly constituency. On this occasion, area MLA Prof. Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra was also present. Addressing the function, Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal said that through these projects, more than 3,832 acres of cultivable area of ​​the region will get canal water for irrigation for the first time. He said that Chief Minister S. Under the leadership of Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to providing better irrigation facilities to the farmers and reducing their dependence on groundwater. He said that the aim of the Mann government is to secure water, Punjab and Punjabiyat by taking every drop of canal water to the tailings and to make ‘Rangla Punjab’ by saving the youth from drugs. He said that the previous governments only played politics on the water issue and failed to protect Punjab’s share of water. “Our government has taken concrete steps to protect the state’s water as well as strengthen the canal infrastructure so that farmers can be provided with reliable irrigation facilities in the long run,” he said.
Addressing the gathering at village Mankamajra, the Cabinet Minister said that a new Bhasod Minor has been built from the Kotla Branch Canal, which has been paved with concrete lining at a cost of about Rs 4.07 crore, due to which 9 villages of Malerkotla and Sangrur districts will get the facility of canal water after about 50-60 years. Apart from this, a 7,640 meter long underground pipeline is being laid from Bhasod Minor to villages Darogewal and Manakmajra at a cost of Rs 1.73 crore. This project will provide canal water for the first time to irrigate 1,006 acres of agricultural area. From the same miner, a 4,200 meter long pipeline is being laid for villages Rustamgarh, Sangali, Sangala and Bhaini Kalan at a cost of about Rs 1.03 crore, due to which about 980 acres of area will get the facility of canal water for the first time after the independence of the country.
Similarly, after formally inaugurating canal water projects costing about Rs 6.17 crore in village Dahleez Khurd, Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal said that a 20,149 meter long high quality modern pipeline is being laid from Bathinda branch at a cost of Rs 5.63 crore, which will provide reliable canal water for the first time to a total area of 1486 acres of village Mehrana Khurd, Kanganpur and Rasulpur. Will be available, while 360 acres of area of village Dahleez Kalan and Dahleez Khurd will be connected with canal irrigation facility at a cost of Rs 54 lakh.
MLA Prof. Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra said that Chief Minister Shri. Under the leadership of Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is giving priority to the development of farmers and public welfare. He said that efforts are being made to provide canal water to every farm through modernization of canal infrastructure. He said that these projects will fulfill the long standing demand of farmers as well as increase agricultural production and income. He assured that there will be no shortage of funds for the development of Amargarh area.
On this occasion, Chairman District Planning Board Saqib Ali Raja, Chairman Zilla Parishad Malerkotla Raghbir Singh Chaunda, Chairman Market Committee Amargarh Harpreet Singh Nangal, Chairman Punjab Haj Committee Hashim Sufi, Aam Aadmi Party leader Kewal Singh Jagowal, Area Coordinator Nasha-Mukti Yatra Gurpreet Singh Banbhaura (Bittu), Assistant Commissioner Mandeep Kaur, D.S.P. Apart from Sanjeev Kapoor, Axion Harmaninder Singh, Axion Sangrur Atinderpal Singh Sidhu, Axion Damanjeet Singh, Rajeev, Abhijot, a large number of residents of the area were present.
