Chandigarh. The machine installed in the Animal Caracas Incinerator Plant built for the cremation of cows near the Gaushala located in Raipur Kalan has been malfunctioning for the last several days. Due to this, there is a pile of dead cows in the cowshed. An organization said that so many cows died simultaneously in the cowshed that it spread a sensation in the entire city. The organization has also given a complaint to the police. Police said that not only the cows of the Gaushala, but also dead cows from nearby villages are brought here for cremation. Due to the machine breaking down, their last rites are not being performed, hence the dead cows have gathered. Corporation Medical Officer of Health said that the machine was not working due to a plate being damaged. The plate of the machine has to come from somewhere far away and in view of the delay, it has been ordered by air. He also accused some people of breaking the gate of the cow shed and taking away the records.
Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla said that she has taken information from the corporation officials that cows from many villages come to the cowshed for cremation. His last rites could not be performed for several days due to the machine breaking down, due to which he is being buried by digging a pit. He clearly said that if any negligence is found in this matter, strict action will be taken.
Raipur Kalan’s cowshed is the largest in the city, with the capacity to house more than two thousand cows. This cow shed was inaugurated by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Recently, the corporation had proposed Rs 14 crore for expanding the shed, which was not approved by the House due to the amount being high.
Previous incident: Earlier, a large number of cows had died in the cowshed located in Maloya. Due to the electric wire hitting the iron shed, the entire cattle shed was electrocuted, due to which more than 14 cows and calves lost their lives. Many types of negligence were revealed in this matter. Mayor and Joint Commissioner of the Corporation Himanshu Gupta also reached the spot and ordered an investigation into the matter.
