Rajkot, February 23 (). The campaign to remove illegal encroachment has started in Jangleshwar area from Monday. Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) is carrying out bulldozing action on 1,489 illegal houses.
The Municipal Corporation is removing encroachment from TP Road and river banks. Heavy police force has been deployed during the operation. The bulldozer operation to vacate approximately 87,000 square meters of land is going on under the strict supervision of the police.
The government had already issued notices to vacate the land. Now major demolition action is going on to remove illegal encroachment. Municipal Commissioner Tushar Sumera said that the construction on the banks of the river in Jangleshwar area of Rajkot city is an illegal encroachment and we have started the work of removing the encroachment on the city planning road. He told that more than 700 people including senior officials from Rajkot Municipal Corporation are there. He told that it has been our endeavor that as much as we could by convincing them to remove people from there, that work is also going on.
He told that the illegal construction is on the banks of the river. 100 percent action will be taken against them. Action will also be taken against encroachment on the road. We are going to take action only against the encroachments on the river banks and roads. He told that the municipal team has been doing door to door campaign for five days. She is going to each house and explaining. Even the municipal team is providing the facility of tractor there that if anyone has to vacate the place then our facility is available there.
Rajkot DCP Crime Jagdish Bagarwa said that the work of removing all illegal encroachments in Jangleshwar area and its surrounding areas has been started from this morning. He said that the demolition process was going on peacefully since morning.
He told that due to persuasion, most of the people had removed the encroachment by demolishing it themselves. Peaceful action is going on to remove encroachment on the remaining area.
