Udaipur. Fulfilling the glorious and centuries-old religious tradition of Mewar, the 77th Shri Ekling Diwan of Mewar, Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, with full devotion, offered traditional attire and food offerings to Thakurji Shri Jagannath Raiji enshrined in Shri Jagdish Temple on the occasion of Rath Yatra Mahotsav. According to tradition, this special dress made to be worn by Lord Shri Jagannath Raiji was taken from the royal palace to the temple in a religious procession. On this occasion, a traditional procession was taken out from the Raj Mahal to Shri Jagdish Temple. A contingent of security personnel was marching in a disciplined parade at the forefront of the procession. Behind them the Palace Band was moving forward presenting melodious notes. The members of the religious assembly and the pundits reached the temple in traditional attire and with plates of food offerings in an organized manner. In the procession, Chanwardars were performing Chanwar Seva as per tradition, while Chharidars were carrying out the royal tradition in the front. Devotees reached the temple from the palace via Jagdish Chowk, chanting the praises of Lord Shri Eklingnath and Lord Shri Jagannath Raiji. It is noteworthy that this historical temple was built by the 57th Shri Ekling Diwan of Mewar, Maharana Jagat Singh I and its consecration was completed on Vaishakh Purnima of Vikram Samvat 1709. Since then, the glorious tradition of religious rituals, festivals, charity and daily worship service has been continuously carried out by the Maharanas of Mewar. Following this rich heritage of his ancestors, Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar is still keeping the cultural and spiritual heritage of Mewar alive by preserving and promoting these traditions with full devotion and faith.
