Road safety and infrastructure development will establish new dimensions of development in the state: V. Srinivas

Jaipur. The development of highways and other infrastructure in the state has got a big boost by the double engine government. The World Bank Board has approved Rs 2025 crore for the upgrade of 14 highways of the state in the Highway Modernization Project. Loan has been approved.


Regarding this project Rajasthan Highways Modernization Project (RHMP), Chief Secretary V. Srinivas conducted a high level review at the Government Secretariat on Friday. This project is an important initiative towards modernizing and strengthening the highway infrastructure, road safety and transportation system of the state. Under the project, 14 highways (about 926 km) will be upgraded, out of which 5 projects will be developed on EPC mode and 9 projects will be developed on HAM mode. Intelligent Transport System (ITS) will be implemented in the project, which will lead to real-time monitoring, better enforcement and improved road safety.
Rs 2025 crores. Approval of loan-
It is noteworthy that recently the World Bank Board has approved Rs 2025 crore for the upgradation of these road projects under RHMP. Loan approval has been issued. Soon a tripartite agreement will be signed between the World Bank, Department of Economic Affairs of the Government of India, Transport and Road Safety of the Government of Rajasthan and Rajasthan State Highway Authority.
Emphasizing on timely implementation of the project and use of modern technologies, the Chief Secretary said that RHMP will play an important role in improving road safety, infrastructure development and living standards of citizens in the state and will establish Rajasthan as a progressive and developed state.
Travel time will reduce, road accidents will reduce –
The main objectives of the project are to reduce travel time and loss of life due to road accidents, improve logistics efficiency, develop long-term road network master plan, identify and monetize assets, increase road safety management capacity.
“Safe System Approach” will be adopted to strengthen road safety, with special focus on post-crash care. Under this, Trauma Care Center, GPS equipped ambulance network, Integrated Emergency Response System (ERS) and “Golden Hour” treatment will be ensured.
Additionally, way-side facilities, EV charging infrastructure, PPP-based development, low-carbon transportation systems like ropeways and tree plantation will be promoted. Additionally, traffic de-congestion plans, ITS based public transport and state logistics master plans will also be developed for Jaipur and Jodhpur.
During this, Additional Chief Secretary of Public Works Department Praveen Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Government, Transport Department Bhawani Singh Detha and other officers were present.
