Bharatpur. On the occasion of completion of two years of the state government, public awareness programs were organized in various areas of Bharatpur city under the road safety campaign by the Transport and Road Safety Department. The objective of the campaign was to make the general public aware of traffic rules and to reduce road accidents.
District Transport Officer Abhay Mudgal said that this time information about traffic rules was given in an interesting and innovative way to convey an effective message to the general public. Under this, the importance of road safety rules was explained to the people in street theater style through the characters of Yamraj and Chitragupta. These characters gave information in a simple and entertaining manner about important rules like wearing a helmet while riding a bike, wearing a seat belt in a car, not driving under the influence of alcohol and following the prescribed speed limit. He said that this innovative effort attracted special interest among the general public, especially the youth and the drivers and people resolved to understand and follow the traffic rules. During the campaign, the transport team distributed pamphlets related to traffic rules to the people at major intersections, market areas and crowded places of the city and motivated them towards safe driving.
District Transport Officer said that under the Road Safety Campaign, the Road Safety Awareness Rath is also touring different areas. In this sequence, the awareness chariot reached Rupwas police station, where the general public and drivers were motivated to follow road safety rules, adopt measures to prevent accidents and play the role of responsible citizens.
