Dausa. In Gudhakatla village of Basava police station area, the police have arrested the miscreants who brutally cut off a silver bangle from the leg of an old woman and took it away. On Friday, when the police took the accused to the court, a lawyer present there got angry and slapped the accused. At the same time, the Bar Association has taken a collective decision not to represent the accused in protest against this incident which shames humanity. The incident occurred around 2 pm on May 13, when Manphuli Devi, a resident of Gudhakatla, was sleeping in her house. Two unknown miscreants cut the silver bracelet on his leg with a cutter and fled away. After this sensational robbery, on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, a joint team of Basava police station, DST and cyber cell was formed. Police officer Hanuman Sahay said that police teams examined the footage of about 200 CCTV cameras of Gudhakatla and surrounding areas. The locations of the accused were tracked with the technical help of cyber cell. Eventually the police raided and arrested Mahesh Prajapat (resident Gudhakatla) and Deviram alias Babbu (resident Mahwa) from the forests of Muhi village. A juvenile (minor) involved in the crime who was in conflict with the law has also been detained. Police have recovered the looted bangle and the motorcycle used in the crime from the possession of the accused.
When the accused were presented in the court on Friday, the atmosphere in the campus became heated. Bar Association President Sachchidanand Mishra said that the lawyers have unanimously taken a resolution that no accused will be prosecuted for this heinous act. The court has ordered to send both the main accused on police remand till May 18.
