New Delhi. BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra released a video message on Sunday targeting the Congress party and saying that these people are trying to defame the BJP by making false allegations. BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “A few days ago, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had said that the BJP was trying to erase the legacy of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. She accused the BJP of defaming Nehru and trying to erase his name from people’s memory. However, in trying to save the so-called legacy of Nehru, the Congress itself has ignored the contributions of many other great leaders inside and outside the party.” He said that for example, Congress marginalized the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. If Congress had followed internal democracy during the election of the country’s first Prime Minister, Nehru’s legacy might not have been so dominant.
Sambit Patra said that Sonia Gandhi said during a program that BJP wants to erase the tradition of Nehru. I would like to respectfully say to Sonia Gandhi that just to keep alive the memory of Nehru and the so-called tradition of Nehru, the Congress Party has ended the tradition of so many great people.
He said that similarly Subhash Chandra Bose was ignored and an attempt was made to underestimate him. The public knows the way Pandit Nehru behaved towards Baba Saheb Ambedkar, who wrote the Constitution and was the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee, and I would like to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving him this opportunity in the House of India. When the Constitution was being discussed in the Parliament, we came to know about the correspondence that took place between Ambedkar and Nehru and what Nehru had said about Ambedkar in them, it came in front of the country.
BJP’s national spokesperson further said, “Sonia Gandhi had said that BJP is trying to rewrite history. I would say that BJP is not trying to rewrite history, but is correcting history and giving their due to those people who have really contributed to the independence of this country and different aspects of the country.”
He said that I would like to thank the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who always tried to bring forward the people left behind due to the dynastic politics of the Nehru-Gandhi family.
