Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. A lawyer today tried to create a ruckus in the court room in front of Gawai. It is alleged that the lawyer also tried to throw a shoe at the CJI. Soon after the incident, the police took the accused lawyer into custody. Meanwhile, Justice Gawai remained calm throughout the incident and the court proceedings continued normally. He said that “these things do not affect me.” The lawyer allegedly went to the table, took off his shoe and tried to throw it at the judge, but the security personnel intervened in time and expelled him. While leaving, the lawyer was heard saying, “We will not tolerate insult to Sanatan Dharma.” The accused lawyer has been identified as Rakesh Kishore, who was registered in the Supreme Court bar in 2011.
CJI Gavai’s clarification after its statement on the idol
The CJI remained unaffected by the incident and asked other lawyers present in the court room to continue their arguments. He said, “Understand all these things. There is no effect on us. These things do not affect me.” In view of the seriousness of the case, immediate action was taken and security was increased in the court premises.
What did the lawyer say after throwing a shoe at the Chief Justice?
According to a lawyer, the attacked lawyer threw something at the Chief Justice. The goods were narrowly survived by Justice Vinod Chandran. The lawyer then apologized to Justice Chandran and said that he was targeting the Chief Justice. Security personnel caught him and took him out of court. After the incident, lawyer organizations condemned the attack on the Chief Justice. The Supreme Court Advocate-on-Credit (AOR) Association has demanded that the Supreme Court take self-cognizance of the incident and start contempt proceedings against the lawyer.
Why was an attempt to throw a shoe on the Chief Justice?
Reacting to the incident, a lawyer said, “Today’s incident is very sad. If a lawyer tried to attack the court, and that too in the court room, we strongly condemn it. He is a member of our bar.” We just investigated and revealed that he was a member of 2011.
Lawyer demanded action
In his statement, the lawyer said, “This is a very tragic incident. Therefore, we can say that what he has come to know is that he attempted this attempt on the comment made by the Honorable Chief Justice in the matters of Lord Vishnu (the lawyer tried to throw the shoe). This is a very tragic incident. We condemn it, and if this incident is true, then action should be taken.”
