New Delhi, October 26 (). Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the newly established state-of-the-art vegetable and flower seed processing plant and packing unit of National Seed Corporation at Pusa campus, New Delhi on Monday. Apart from this, he will also virtually inaugurate 5 seed processing plants of NSC located at Bareilly, Dharwad, Hassan, Suratgarh and Raichur.
The vegetable seed processing plant located at Beej Bhawan, Delhi has a capacity of 1 tonne per hour, while the seed processing plants located at other 5 locations of NSC have a capacity of 4 tonne per hour. The newly established seed processing plant has been designed to increase the availability and quality of high quality seeds to the farmers of the country. These plants are equipped with advanced technology to ensure efficient processing of quality seeds and attractive packaging.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will also inaugurate the Seed Store Management System (Seed Management 2.0) and online seed booking system for farmers at Beej Bhawan. National Seed Corporation is the leading agency for online booking and registering demands of farmers located in urban and rural areas of the country.
National Seed Corporation has also made available quality seeds of various crops, vegetables, flower and ornamental seeds and other planting material on online platform, which has gained popularity among farmers in remote areas.
National Seeds Corporation Limited (NSC) is a Schedule ‘B’-Miniratna Category-I company, wholly owned by the Government of India and under the administrative control of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. NSC was established in March 1963 for the production of basic and certified seeds. Union Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi and other senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare will be present in this ceremony.
