Dausa. Taking strict action against shopkeepers who had outstanding rent for a long period, the Zilla Parishad administration on Thursday sealed 10 council shops. District Council Chief Executive Officer Birdi Chand Gangwal said that in the year 2007-08, 10 council shops were given on rent. But many tenants were not depositing the rent for years, on which the outstanding amount is about Rs 22 lakh. This action was taken when the rent was not deposited within the stipulated time despite repeated notices and warnings. The officer said that now the outstanding amount will be recovered by registering an FIR against these 7 defaulting tenants.
It is noteworthy that some shopkeepers have outstanding rent of up to Rs 3 lakh each. Due to continuous pending payments, the Zilla Parishad was forced to take action to seal the shops.
