Kolkata, 21 September (). The Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Shubhendu Adhikari, on Sunday, accused the West Bengal Police of unnecessarily obstructing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to mark 100 years of national service.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Leader of West Bengal said in a statement released on Sunday, “I am very disappointed and angry with the gross atrocities in Maheshtala today. Mamta Police, Autonomous Trinamool Congress rule, is an obstacle to the peaceful path movement (root march) organized by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to commemorate 100 years of national service.
According to him, this action of the police is an attack on a patriotic organization not only dedicated to nation building and service, but is also a direct attack on our democratic rights and freedom to meet.
He further stated that under the rigorous rule of Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal has become a hub of oppression, where Hindu cultural programs are being strangled, nationalist organizations are being interrupted and goons and intruders are openly moving.
The officer’s statement said, “Police is using weapons to suppress the voice of nationalism and unity, instead of maintaining law and order. Mamta police should be ashamed.”
There was no immediate response from the ruling Trinamool Congress or Police Administration in this case.
The EWRSS program in West Bengal on Sunday was slightly different this time.
In all other states of the country, the most important meeting to commemorate the centenary of the RSS will be on the day of Vijayadashami. In West Bengal, the gathering was held on the day of Mahalaya.
RSS promotional in -charge Biplab Roy told media persons on Sunday, “We had planned to organize meetings at about one thousand places across West Bengal on the occasion of Mahalaya. Of these, about three hundred were in South Bengal, the rest were in Central Bengal and North Bengal. From almost all places where meetings were held, pictures and videos of programs have reached us.”
