Jaipur/Sikar Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Special Unit-II, Jaipur, in a major action on Saturday, arrested an accused red-handed for extortion in the name of Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Sikar. Accused Uttam Pandey, a resident of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, was caught near Hotel Ashoka (Kalyan Circle) while taking a bribe of Rs 13 lakh from the complainant.
According to ACB Director General Govind Gupta, the complainant had filed a complaint at the Jaipur headquarters on December 30, 2025. In the year 2022 with the complainant QFX Pvt. Ltd. There was a fraud during investment in a company named. Accused Uttam Pandey contacted the complainant claiming himself to be an officer of the Office of the Assistant Director of ED, Chandigarh. He deceived that he would get the name of the complainant removed from this fraud case and would provide her relief. The deal started from Rs 20 lakhs
Investigation revealed that the accused had initially demanded Rs 20 lakh in exchange for providing relief. After long bargaining the deal was settled at Rs 13 lakh. After verification of the complaint, ACB laid a trap.
Leading the operation: The trap was executed by Deputy Superintendent Shri Vijay Singh under the direction of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Anil Kayal.
Recovery: A total of Rs 13 lakh was recovered from the accused, of which Rs 2 lakh was taken in cash and Rs 11 lakh was taken through other means.
Sections: A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amended 2018).
“Under the supervision of Smt. Smita Srivastava, Additional Director General of ACB, a thorough interrogation of the accused is being done to find out who else is involved in this fraud network.”
Be careful: Immediately report to the Anti-Corruption Bureau the middlemen who ask for money by threatening or promising relief in the name of central investigative agencies.
