As a result of the efforts being made by the Government of Himachal Pradesh to make the disposal of revenue cases simple, transparent and time bound, the Revenue Courts held in Mandi district have provided great relief to the people by resolving thousands of long pending cases. A total of 24 revenue courts have been organized in the district from October, 2023 to October, 2025, in which cases like Intakal, Takseem, Nishadhehi and Revenue Corrections have been disposed of expeditiously. This initiative has not only increased the work pace of revenue administration but has also strengthened public confidence. The holding of revenue courts was started across the state in October, 2023. Initially, only cases related to Itkaal were heard, but to further improve the system, cases related to Taksim were also included in December, 2023 and cases related to Revenue Correction and Marking in February, 2024. Through these courts in Mandi district, 30641 cases of death, 970 cases of division, 663 cases of spotting and 413 cases of revenue adjustment have been settled. This process has led to a significant reduction in the number of long pending cases and people have started getting timely solutions in their own areas. Shiv Kumar village Kharot, Sarkaghat has thanked the state government for the scheme like Revenue Lok Adalat. This has made solving people’s problems very easy. Earlier one had to travel 50-50 kilometers to get the funeral done. But these days, Revenue Lok Adalat is providing the facility of getting itkaal and takseem done at door-step. He told that he had also purchased land in Sarkaghat. The division of which was not done for almost 15 years from 2010 till now. But now the work of division and finalization has been done through Revenue Lok Adalat.
Ranjit Singh, village Tatih Sarkaghat told that he also had a dispute with his brother, which was settled soon. Earlier, people had to make several rounds of tehsil offices. Which was a huge waste of time. The whole day was spent on these tasks, yet the work could not be done. Now, due to the Revenue Lok Adalat scheme launched by the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, people’s disputes and death cases are being settled on the spot. For which he has expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister.
This continuous initiative of Revenue Courts has made Mandi district among the leading districts where revenue cases are being disposed of in a timely and effective manner and justice has come closer to the reach of the people. The positive perception created among the public is an indication that the revenue courts are proving to be purposeful, effective and in public interest.
Deputy Commissioner Mandi Apoorva Devgan said that the continuous holding of revenue courts has provided real relief to the people and the government’s sensitivity and commitment to public welfare is showing positive results. He said that the aim of the administration is that no citizen should have to wait unnecessarily for minor revenue procedures. Revenue courts have provided simple, transparent and accessible service system at village and tehsil level, which has increased public trust and strengthened public participation.
