Jaipur Summer has started showing its fierce form in Rajasthan. The mercury has crossed 40 degrees Celsius in 12 major cities of the state. The situation is such that more heat is being felt in Kota of Hadoti than in Barmer and Jaisalmer of western Rajasthan. Weather Center Jaipur has issued a ‘yellow alert’ of heatwave (loo) for the coming few days.

Kota was the hottest city of the state, where the temperature was recorded at 42 degrees Celsius. In view of the increasing threat of heat, the Kota Medical College administration has made special preparations. A pre-fabricated ward of 200 beds has been reserved for the treatment of patients in the Medical College campus, out of which a ‘heat stroke ward’ of 50 beds has been started with immediate effect. The scorching heat has had a direct impact on the tourism of the state. There has been a huge decline in the number of tourists in Lake City Udaipur and Religious City Ajmer. Markets were seen empty in the afternoon as the mercury reached 40 degrees in Udaipur, whereas there was silence at busy places like Anasagar Ki Pal in Ajmer. People are going out only by covering their heads and taking the help of umbrellas to avoid the heat.
In the desert areas, not only the days but also the nights are scorching. The minimum temperature in Phalodi, Barmer and Jaisalmer is being recorded between 26 to 29 degrees Celsius. The night temperature in Phalodi was 28.4 degrees, due to which people are not getting peace even at night. In the language of meteorology it is called ‘Warm Night’.
Condition of capital Jaipur and other cities
Jaipur: The maximum day temperature in the capital was recorded at 40 degrees and the minimum night temperature was 27 degrees, which is about 3 degrees more than normal.
Alwar: The temperature here has reached 41.6 degrees, where the hot winds have made people miserable.
Jodhpur: The temperature here was recorded at 40.7 degrees and major roads looked completely deserted in the afternoon.
How will the weather be in future?
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain completely dry for the next one week and the intensity of sunlight will increase further. The heatwave is likely to continue in Alwar, Bharatpur and Shekhawati regions for the next four days. The administration has advised people not to leave their homes between 12 noon and 4 pm and to keep themselves hydrated.
