The 2025 Bihar Assembly elections are no less than a nightmare for the Rashtriya Janata Dal. This election may prove to be one of the worst performances of RJD. Not only has Rashtriya Janata Dal lost badly in this election, but Tejashwi Yadav himself is finding it difficult to save his seat.
Tejashwi Yadav, who is dreaming of becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar, will now find it difficult to get the post of Leader of Opposition. According to the latest trends, RJD is leading only in 24 to 25 seats. However, to become the leader of opposition in Bihar, support of at least 25 MLAs is required. There are 243 members in Bihar Assembly. Therefore, Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD will have to win at least 25 seats to gain the post of leader of the opposition. However, RJD currently has a lead of only 24 to 25 seats. This is an alarm bell for RJD to get the post of leader of opposition. If RJD falls below this figure, the party will not be able to achieve the position on its own.
This is less than half of the 75 seats won by RJD in 2020. Even if RJD somehow manages to get 25 seats, questions will be raised on its number of seats. After the 16th round, Tejashwi Yadav is trailing by more than 9,000 votes in Raghopur seat. Here BJP candidate Satish Kumar is leading. However, the Grand Alliance is currently leading on 28 seats, including one Congress and one CPI-ML seat.
Only 22 seats were won in 2010
Even in 2010, RJD had to face a crushing defeat in Bihar. In this election, RJD contested 168 seats and was able to win only 22. Because of this RJD could not get the post of leader of the opposition. In this election, JDU had won 115 seats and BJP had won 91 seats. NDA had won a total of 206 seats.
Many stalwarts of RJD were also left behind
RJD leader and actor Khesari Yadav is also seen lagging behind on his seat. After the seventh round, he was trailing by about 2,600 votes. Another prominent RJD leader Osama Shahab seems to be winning the election. After the 14th round, he is leading by 18,725 votes.
