Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday requested the Indian Army to consider shifting the headquarters of its Southern Command from Pune to Hyderabad. The Chief Minister made this demand during the Civil-Military Liaison Conference organized at the Integrated Command and Control Center in Hyderabad. Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, General Officer Commanding Telangana and Andhra Sub Area Major General Ajay Mishra, DGP Shivdhar Reddy and many senior officials of the state government and army were present in the meeting.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Revanth Reddy placed several demands and proposals on behalf of Telangana before senior Army officials during this meeting.
The meeting discussed speedy resolution of land-related issues and other administrative problems between the Army and the Telangana government.
The Chief Minister urged to consider shifting the headquarters of Southern Command to Hyderabad. Southern Command includes Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Union Territories of Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
He also demanded the establishment of a Sainik School in Telangana. The Chief Minister said that two to four Sainik Schools have been sanctioned in different states of the country, but Telangana has not got a single Sainik School in the last 10 years.
The Chief Minister assured the Army officers that the Telangana Government will always be ready to extend full cooperation in matters related to national security.
In this context, he informed that 3,000 acres of land has been allotted for the low-frequency Navy radar station in Vikarabad.
The Chief Minister also requested for coordination between the Army and the Telangana government and appointment of special officers to resolve pending issues. He clarified that solving problems is possible only through continuous dialogue.
