Kolkata, January 19 (). West Bengal Election Commission has said that the claim of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s grandson Chandra Kumar Bose being summoned to prove his citizenship is misleading.
In a post on social media platform ‘X’, a user had claimed that Chandra Kumar Bose, grandson of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, was summoned for SIR hearing by the Election Commission to prove his citizenship.
It was further written in it that this is not a SIR hearing, but an insult sponsored by BJP. If Netaji’s family is not ‘Indian enough’ for the Election Commission, then who is?
In response to this, it has been written by the West Bengal Election Commission that this claim is misleading. It is clearly visible in the counting form that the voter has left the linkage columns blank, hence as per the notification of the Election Commission, he has been called for hearing along with all other similar voters.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of deliberately targeting minority voters and removing their names through the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) in the state. He also claimed that names of around 90,000 voters in minority-dominated Malda district would be removed from the final voter list.
The Chief Minister says that the complaints of the people of minority community are absolutely legitimate. Voters of this community are being specifically targeted. I have heard that in Malda district alone, names of 90,000 voters are being considered to be removed from the voter list. Apart from minority community voters, voters from backward classes like Matua, Rajvanshi and tribal communities are also being targeted. They are not even sparing eminent persons like Amartya Sen and poet Joy Goswami.
