There should be no injustice to the player who has brought glory to the country: Bhupendra Hooda

Chandigarh. Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupendra Singh Hooda has demanded immediate intervention of the Union Sports Minister in the case of Vinesh Phogat. Hooda said that the allegations being made by an Olympian player are very serious. Vinesh Phogat has brought glory to the country on many occasions. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of the Central Government and sports organizations to ensure that their honor is not tampered with in any way. He said that if Vinesh Phogat wants to participate in sports competitions on the basis of merit, Asian Games or other international events, then she should definitely get a chance. But in Gonda he was neither allowed to participate in the competition nor allowed to use the training hall. Bhupendra Singh Hooda further said that the functioning of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has been under question many times. Therefore, it is necessary that the Union Sports Minister himself takes cognizance of the entire matter and intervenes, so that the rights of any player are not violated.
He said, “There are only a handful of players in our country who travel to the Olympics and have the ability to win medals. Vinesh is one of them. Vinesh Phogat had reached the gold medal position in the Paris Olympics too, but luck did not favor her at the last moment. Despite winning all the matches, she remained deprived of the medal.”
Hooda stressed that if Vinesh wants to make a comeback with her hard work and bring medals for the country, then sports organizations should fully cooperate with her, instead of discriminating against her.
