Jaipur. The Mines Department will from time to time take surprise action on vehicles transporting minerals and get them re-weighed on the weighing machines. Principal Secretary Mines T. Ravikant gave this information in a meeting held on hybrid mode in the Secretariat on Wednesday. This decision has been taken in view of the complaints of some lease holders trying to steal government revenue by coordinating with the weighing scale operators. He said that the departmental field officers have been instructed to conduct surprise inspections from time to time and re-weigh the vehicles loaded with minerals on the weighing machines.
Principal Secretary T. Ravikant said that recently, as an experiment, cases of difference in the amount of minerals in the vehicles have been found after conducting surprise inspection at some places and re-weighing on the weighing machines.
