Chandigarh. There was chaos in the Chandigarh District Court on Wednesday when information about a bomb was received in the court premises. Due to security reasons, the entire court complex was immediately evacuated. It is being told that this information was received by the police through e-mail, in which a threat was given to drop a bomb in the court premises through a drone. As soon as the information was received, police, bomb disposal squad and other security agencies reached the spot. The lawyers, employees and common people present in the court were evacuated safely. After this, the entire premises was sealed and an intensive search operation was started. According to police officials, serious threats were made in the e-mail, after which security arrangements were tightened without taking any kind of risk. Every part of the court complex is being investigated with the help of bomb disposal squad and dog squad.
At present, no suspicious object has been recovered during the investigation. However, as a precautionary search operation is underway and the entire area is under strict surveillance. Police are also trying to find out from where and who sent the threatening e-mail.
Officials say that the situation is completely under control, but there will be no carelessness regarding security. Considering the seriousness of the matter, cyber cell has also started investigation.
After the incident, security has been increased around the court premises and the general public has been appealed not to pay attention to rumours.
