Kolkata, June 7 (). Govind Dev Giri Maharaj, trustee and treasurer of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in West Bengal, expressed his opinion regarding the history curriculum in schools and the presentation of the history of the Mughal period. He said that there is a need to reform the education system and history should be presented in a correct and balanced manner. Some elements have been included in the education system of the country which are wrong and which need to be reviewed and removed.
Govind Dev Giri Maharaj said that he is saying this in accordance with the thoughts and instructions of Prime Minister Modi. He stressed that only through education can permanent change be brought about in any society and nation. If the education system is improved and the errors present in it are removed, then the future of the country can become stronger.
He also mentioned the Chief Minister of West Bengal and the political situation in the state during his address. He said that work should be done towards reviving the cultural and historical identity in the state. Such symbols and monuments should be preserved and created in the society, which reflect the local culture and tradition.
He also suggested that many place names and historical contexts should be reconsidered, especially those associated with foreign invasions or rule. According to him, such changes will increase society’s awareness of its roots and strengthen cultural identity.
Govind Dev Giri Maharaj also emphasized on religious faith and cultural pride in his address. He said that the soul of India lies in its culture, religion and traditions and it is everyone’s responsibility to strengthen them.
Praising the leadership of West Bengal, he said that the efforts being made towards increasing cultural consciousness in the state are important. He appealed to the attendees to be conscious of their traditions, culture and religious values and pass them on to the coming generations.
