Tesla has introduced the new 2026 Model Y Premium RWD in India, which has a new design, advanced technology and a more premium interior than before.
American electric vehicle company Tesla has launched its new Model Y Premium RWD in India. Its delivery will start from July 2026. This new electric SUV has more than 2,100 liters of luggage space, a larger touchscreen and a more premium and modern cabin than before.
Launched at a price of Rs 50.89 lakh (ex-showroom), this new variant is positioned below the recently introduced 6-seater model YL. Along with this, Tesla has also given many important updates in design and features. Compared to the standard model, the Model Y Premium gets a completely black interior theme, which extends to the headliner and cabin trim.
Zen Gray interior option has also been made available to the customers, which gives a more premium and lightweight look to the cabin. Additionally, the infotainment system has also been upgraded and now gets a new 16-inch touchscreen with better response and updated software integration.
Model Y is considered to be one of the most practical electric SUVs in its segment. With the rear seats folded, it offers up to 2,138 liters of cargo space, while it can seat five people. Talking about performance, in this variant the power is sent only to the rear wheels and this SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.
Its certified driving range as per WLTP standards is 500 km, making it an attractive option for customers with varying needs. On this occasion, Tesla also mentioned the Model YL launched in India last month. This large 6-seater SUV claims to offer a WLTP range of up to 681 km on a single charge and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds.
Model YL offers up to 2,539 liters of cargo space and its three-row seating arrangement makes it more practical. According to Tesla, both the Model Y Premium and Model YL have received top safety ratings from multiple global safety agencies such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Euro NCAP, ANCAP and China Insurance Automotive Safety Index.
The company is also trying to take premium EVs to more customers. Currently, under the finance scheme, customers can buy Model Y Premium at a monthly EMI of approximately Rs 39,990 with an initial down payment of Rs 6 lakh. Tesla claims that customers can save up to Rs 20,000 every month due to reduced fuel and maintenance costs compared to similarly priced petrol and diesel vehicles. Additionally, the company has confirmed to provide home charging support across all states and reiterated plans to continue expanding its charging network, retail stores and service infrastructure in India.
