Lucknow, January 11 (). The state level skills competition organized by Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission is being organized from January 12, 2026. This competition will be organized in 20 different skills with the participation of more than 1651 participants selected from 75 districts of the state.

Kapil Dev Agarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of Uttar Pradesh, said that the aim of the Yogi government is that the youth of the state should be technically proficient, innovative and ready for global competition. State level skills competition is a powerful medium to recognize the talent of the youth as well as to take them to the national and international platform.

He said that this competition is an important phase of the selection process of India Skills Competition-2026, through which the best talents representing the state at the national level will be selected. The competition will be conducted in three phases till 23 January 2026, while awards and citations will be presented to the selected participants at a ceremony on 24 January 2026.

Director of Skill Development Mission, Pulkit Khare informed that in the first phase organized on 12th and 13th January, about 570 participants from all 75 districts of the state will participate, who will demonstrate their proficiency in 6 skills including Additive Manufacturing, Welding, Electronics, Fashion Technology, CNC Milling and CNC Turning. On the first day, the participants will be given orientation related to their skills by experts, information about the format of the World Skills Competition and practice on advanced machines, while the actual competition will be held on 13 January 2026.

He informed that the first phase competition will be organized in various institutes including Lucknow-based ITI Aliganj, ITI Mohanlalganj, ITOT, Raymond Centre, Government Polytechnic, ITI Charbagh, Polytechnic (Women), and CIPET. In each stage, the best talents of the state will be selected by objectively evaluating the skill proficiency, innovation, creative thinking and performance ability of the participants, so that they can get the opportunity to participate in the World Skills Competition to be held at the national level as well as in Shanghai, China.
