Lucknow. Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday termed the allegations of ill-treatment of minorities in India as ‘propaganda’. He clarified that no citizen has been forced to leave the country due to persecution. Speaking at an interaction with members of the minority community at Christ Church College in Lucknow, Union Minister Rijiju said, “You must have heard that atrocities are being committed against Muslims, Sikhs or Christians. Such claims are mere propaganda and will always continue.” He further said, “Our party, the BJP, is often targeted and wrongly accused of being discriminatory against minorities. This is wrong.”
He said that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”, it was not for propaganda but a reflection of our work culture in which everyone is included and the welfare of all is ensured without any discrimination.
Union Minister Rijiju asked, “Since the formation of our government, is there any person who did not get the benefits of government welfare schemes due to discrimination on the basis of religion?”
Describing India as the safest country for citizens of both majority and minority communities, the Union Minister said, “I recently told an Indonesian minister that who knows, India may emerge as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world in the next census report.”
He further said, “India has a very large Muslim population and they enjoy complete freedom. All Indian citizens are treated equally.”
Union Minister Rijiju said that India is the most populous country in the world with 140 crore people, but other countries like America, which has a population of 33 crore, consider themselves very big.
He further said, “They think that nothing in this world is ahead of America. But when they are told about our population of 140 crores, they are shocked to think how we run the most populous country in the world.”
He said that the beauty of this great nation is that it has existed for thousands of years and will continue to flourish for thousands of years.
