New Delhi. Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, the US Embassy has issued an advisory for Jordan and Jerusalem. The US has asked to keep an eye on local news and think before traveling to these two countries.
The US has ordered non-emergency US government employees and their family members in Jordan to leave the country on March 2 due to security concerns. The advisory summary has been updated to reflect changes in U.S. Embassy operations. The US Embassy asked to reconsider travel to Jordan due to terrorism and armed conflict. Since hostilities between the US and Iran began on February 28, there remains a threat of drone and missile attacks from Iran and major disruptions in commercial flights.
Apart from this, if you go, make an emergency exit plan that is not dependent on the help of the US government. See our information on crisis and evacuation. Be mindful of your surroundings.
Regarding Jerusalem, the US Embassy said, “It is not in a position to evacuate or directly assist Americans leaving Israel. The following information is provided for your information while you are planning your safety. The Israeli Ministry of Tourism has started running a shuttle to the Taba border crossing from March 2. To be included in the passenger list for the shuttle, you will have to register through the ministry’s evacuation form.”
The US Embassy said that the US Embassy cannot make any recommendations (for or against) for the shuttle to the Tourism Ministry. If you take advantage of this option to leave, the US government cannot guarantee your safety. This information is given as a courtesy to those who want to leave Israel.
Additionally, in an interview with Fox News, US Vice President JD Vance said that the President feels that time is running out despite prolonged negotiations with Tehran. “We destroyed a uranium enrichment facility during Operation Midnight Hammer over the summer,” he said.
The Vice President said that the government’s objective was more than stopping it for some time. Vance said, “Trump not only wanted to keep the country safe from Iranian nuclear weapons for the first three, four years of his second term, but he also wanted to make sure that Iran could never develop a nuclear weapon.”
Vance said, Trump guessed that Iran was bent on advancing its program and was committed to making nuclear weapons at any cost, then the US President decided to take action against Iran.
When asked about Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s comment that America could take further tough action, Vance emphasized the capability of the US military. He said, “Our ability to cause serious damage to Iran’s nuclear program is far greater. We can also target a variety of missiles that threaten our troops. The President has several options available to him.
