Chennai, October 29 (). The Meteorological Department released the latest report for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Wednesday morning. The effect of rain continues in the area due to the weakening of cyclone ‘Montha’.
Light rain was recorded in many parts of Tamil Nadu during the night. But, there was no rain in Puducherry and Karaikal. The maximum heat was felt in Tondi, where the mercury reached 34.3 degrees Celsius. Whereas, Karur Paramathi was the coldest in the plains, where the minimum temperature was 20.5 degrees Celsius.
According to reports, light showers occurred overnight in many areas of Tamil Nadu till 8:30 am on Wednesday. ‘Montha’ made landfall near Narasapur between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam between 11:30 pm and 12:30 pm on Tuesday. Due to this, there is continuous rain in Tamil Nadu.
A separate low pressure area is active in the Arabian Sea, located 410 km west-southwest of Mumbai. It will move in north-east direction in the next 36 hours.
The weather in the area will remain humid and cloudy for the coming seven days. On Thursday, there may be light to moderate rain with thunder at some places and there will be a danger of lightning. There is a possibility of light to moderate showers in most areas from October 31 to November 4. The sky will be cloudy, due to which the humidity may increase.
The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to stay away from open places during thunderstorms. Farmers should avoid water logging in their fields. Fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea right now.
