New Delhi, November 8 (). Senior BJP leader, former MP and famous animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi questioned the Supreme Court’s decision regarding stray dogs.
Talking to news agency , Maneka Gandhi said that when the decision regarding removal of stray dogs was given by Justice Pardiwala, it was criticized in the entire country. Everyone had raised questions on the decision. But, now the kind of decision that has come from the Supreme Court regarding stray dogs is even more ridiculous than Justice Pardiwala.
He said that first of all we have to understand what is our goal? Our only aim is to reduce the number of stray dogs so that the cases of bites reduce. But, the question is, what steps have we taken so far in this direction? Scientific studies have also revealed that when we pick up dogs from one place and shift them to other places, those dogs will definitely bite. 90 percent of people are bitten by dogs that are transferred from one place to another. We have to understand what decision has come from the Supreme Court today? The court has said in its decision that dogs should be removed from hospitals, bus stops and colleges. But, the question is, when you remove these dogs, where will you put them?
The BJP leader said that when you remove these dogs from here, you will definitely keep them on the streets, because even today there is no shelter for the dogs.
He said that the ridiculous situation is that in the context of this entire matter, they are talking about cities like Arrah and Araria. When we don’t have shelter, how will we get them? But, when the dogs are removed from schools and hospitals in these cities, where will they be kept? Of course these dogs will remain on the streets. In such a situation people will hit them with sticks only. These dogs will again roam on the streets. In such a situation, there is a strong possibility that dogs will bite people walking on the road. The decision will have to be reconsidered.
