Why are these Chinese people bathing in red chilli water? Your mind will wander after watching the video.

A video of Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province in north-eastern China, is going viral on social media, which is surprising the netizens. While spas are known for peace and relaxation, people in this neighboring country are experiencing what feels like deliberate torture at a spa called “Hot Pot Spa.”

In Harbin, known as China’s “Ice City,” a resort called Maple Leaf Village Hot Spring Resort has introduced a unique concept. The resort has a spa pool themed around the famous Chinese dish “Hot Pot”. This pool is divided into two parts. On one side is dark red water with lots of red peppers and jalapenos floating in it, while on the other side is milky white water with goji berries, red dates and other vegetables.

Benefit or punishment?
In a video shared on Instagram by travel vlogger Jordan Egbert (@counting.countries), people are seen happily bathing in the chilly water. Proponents claim that the chilli water improves blood circulation and keeps the body warm, while the milky part softens the skin. However, skin experts warn that sitting in chilli water can cause severe skin irritation, allergies and rashes.

People say – this is torturing yourself!
Netizens are shocked by this video and are leaving various types of comments. Some people are considering it an adventure, while most people are calling it “torturing yourself”. One user wrote, “This is not a spa, it’s like cooking yourself.” Another said, “Anything is possible in China, man.”
