Will fight against injustice to Haryana from streets to Parliament: Deepender Hooda

Chandigarh. MP Deepender Hooda along with Haryana MPs Jaiprakash JP, MP Varun Mullana, MP Satpal Brahmachari held a strong demonstration in the Parliament House complex demanding making Haryana a co-host state for the Commonwealth Games 2030 and Olympics 2036 announced by the Government of India in Gujarat and also demanding adequate budget for investment in the sports infrastructure of the state. They carried placards with slogans and raised the slogan ‘Olympic and Commonwealth Games should be held in Haryana’ in the Parliament premises and demanded from the government that these games announced by the Government of India in Gujarat should be held in Haryana or at least Haryana should be made a co-host state, so that investment can be made in Haryana and the sports infrastructure can be improved. He also said that he will fight against the injustice done to Haryana from the streets to the Parliament. During this he said that a huge injustice has been done to Haryana. Haryana is a state which wins 50% of the medals for Mother India in Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Olympics, but it was ignored. When India got the opportunity to host the Commonwealth Games 2030, Gujarat and Ahmedabad were selected for it. Similarly, the government has also announced to submit official bidding for organizing Olympics 2036 in Gujarat. Now the entire sports budget will be spent there, but if this investment had been made in Haryana, it can be easily estimated how many more medals our players would have won. He also said that Haryana was given the least budget in Khelo India. In the country’s ₹3500 crore ‘Khelo India’ budget, ₹600 crore was given to Gujarat and only ₹80 crore was given to Haryana, which brought the most medals, which is the lowest in the country. Whereas, be it Olympic, Asian or Commonwealth Games, players from Haryana bring maximum medals.
Earlier, Deepender Hooda also raised this issue in the Lok Sabha during the discussion on demands for supplementary grants and registered his protest. He said that the whole country has seen that today the sports infrastructure in Haryana is in such a bad condition that our players are even losing their lives inside the basketball courts. By making Haryana at least a co-host state in the Commonwealth Games 2030 and Olympics 2036, some of the budget worth lakhs of crores will also be spent on Haryana’s sports infrastructure.
