Can US President Donald Trump meet Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei? Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi rejected Trump’s claims and said that this entire matter should be looked at from the perspective of reality. “I saw a report that said Trump was ready for a meeting or wanted to have a meeting. But I think we need to be realistic; we have to live in the real world,” Aragchi said, according to Al Jazeera.
What did US President Donald Trump say?
On Thursday, the US President said he would be willing to meet Iran’s new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei if he helps reach a deal with Tehran. He said he would feel honored and would show respect, although he acknowledged that Khamenei is not his favorite person.
Trump told reporters at the White House, “I don’t want to meet, but if I did, I would be honored to meet him. We’ll have to see if we can reach an agreement. But if there’s an agreement, I can meet with him; I wouldn’t mind. I haven’t really heard much about it. I haven’t suggested it; others have. If it happens, it happens. I’ll respect it.”
Meanwhile, considering the situation between the two countries, Trump has not given much importance to the increase in oil prices. Petrol prices have increased since the conflict began on February 28. To some extent, Iran is confident that it will hold its own in this conflict. Apart from this, opposition to the war is also increasing in America.
