Chandigarh. Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupendra Singh Hooda has said that due to the scorching heat in Haryana, the power infrastructure of the state has started gasping. Ground reports from 17 districts of the state show that there are undeclared power cuts of 3 to 14 hours every day in cities and rural areas. The situation is that the transformers are overloaded and burning. The cables are on fire. Thousands of complaints of fuse blowing are reaching the control room every day. Amidst the claims of the government about ‘Jagmag Yojana’, villages are getting electricity only for 10 to 12 hours. Due to which the crisis of drinking water and irrigation of fields has also arisen. Hooda said that as soon as the summer season arrived, the claims of the BJP government once again started flying in the air and the power supply came to a standstill. People across the state are facing power cuts for several hours. Due to this, people’s businesses are also coming to a standstill. Today people are facing all-round effects of heat, inflation, recession and power cuts. Whereas Congress had made Haryana a power surplus state during its tenure. During the Congress government, 4 power plants and 1 nuclear power plant were established in the state. But the BJP government did not produce a single unit of electricity during its entire tenure. Even the capacity of the plants established by Congress was reduced. Not only this, electricity prices were also increased wildly. Despite this, the government is not providing electricity to the people at the time of need. The entire Haryana is facing power crisis. On the other hand, the government is busy wasting hundreds of crores of rupees without purchasing electricity. The government paid Rs 1345 crore without purchasing even a single unit of electricity. The matter is related to Teesta Energy Limited of Sikkim. It is surprising that this much money was given to Teesta without the approval of the Cabinet, Chief Minister and Electricity Minister.
Hooda said that the Congress government had signed an agreement with Teesta Energy to supply 200 MW electricity to meet the electricity requirement of Haryana. It was signed in 2010 and the company started power generation in 2017. But under this agreement, the government paid an amount of Rs 1345 crore without taking electricity. Whereas if the government had gone to the Supreme Court regarding this matter, this hard-earned revenue of the public could have been saved. The question arises that the government should explain why it did not go to the Supreme Court? Why did the CM, Cabinet and Minister not take approval for such a huge payment?
