On Tuesday, a shopkeeper caught a young man on suspicion of theft in Ludhiana’s Jagraon Main Market, creating an uproar. There was an uproar in the market due to the arrest of the young man. The young man not only confessed to the theft but also narrated the entire incident, which spread immense anger among the people.
According to reports, some time ago gold jewelery was stolen from a goldsmith’s shop in Amargarh village of Raikot. The entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera of the shop. The victim shared the video on the jewellers’ WhatsApp group to identify the thief.
On Tuesday, the same thief had gone to buy an amulet from a jeweler’s shop in the main market of Jagraon. The shopkeeper initially sent him to another nearby goldsmith. When the young man asked for the amulet, the shopkeeper became suspicious. Based on his suspicion, the shopkeeper carefully watched the viral video and became convinced that the young man standing in front of him was the thief.
After this the shopkeeper caught the young man and made noise. Hearing the noise, many nearby shopkeepers gathered at the spot. When the shopkeepers threatened to call the police, the young man got scared and confessed to his crime. He told that he had stolen a gold chain and earrings, which he had sent to his family in Uttar Pradesh to sell.
Not only this, the young man called his family to the spot and asked them to return the stolen gold ornaments. Shopkeepers told that due to CCTV footage the thief was identified and he was caught. The shopkeepers informed the jeweler of Amargarh village so that he could take further action. At present, the shopkeepers have handed over the accused thief to Jagraon police.
