Brisbane, 24 September (). Thanks to the magnificent innings of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Vihaan Malhotra and Abhigyan Kundu and three wickets of captain Ayush Mhatre, India defeated Australia by 51 runs at Ian Heli Oval on Wednesday to take an invincible 2-0 lead in the young ODI series.
After losing the toss, the Indian team came out to bat first and scored 300 runs in 49.4 overs thanks to Abhiyan Kundu’s 64 balls, Suryavanshi and Malhotra’s 70-70 runs.
India suffered an early shock when captain Mhatre was dismissed for zero on the second ball of the innings. Because of this, Suryavanshi remained a little calm in the beginning. Gradually he returned to the rhythm and scored 70 runs off 68 balls with the help of five fours and six sixes. Suryavanshi shared a 117 -run partnership with Malhotra, who also contributed 70 runs off 74 balls with the help of seven fours and a six.
In this innings, Suryavanshi broke the record of the most sixes (38 sixes) of Unmukt Chand in the young ODI. 14 -year -old Suryavanshi has hit 41 sixes in just 10 innings, after setting himself as the youngest and fastest player in the young ODI earlier this year.
Wicketkeeper Kundu scored 71 runs off 64 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes and played a big role in bringing India to 300.
Australia’s youth team, which came out to achieve the target of 301 runs, was reduced to 249 in 47.4 overs and lost the match by 51 runs. For India, captain Ayush Mhatre took 3 and Kanishka Chauhan took two wickets.
India is ahead 2–0 in the three-match series. After winning the last match, the Indian team will come out to clean the Australia.
