The war between Iran and Israel has not only created turmoil in the entire Middle East, but it is also affecting the stock markets around the world. Due to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini, turmoil in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, crude oil has reached its highest level in four years at $80. Amidst all this, equity benchmark indices in the domestic stock market have fallen. Barring BEL, all other Sensex stocks are in the red, while only three stocks on the Nifty 50—ONGC, BEL, and Hindalco—are in the green. Selling pressure is also high in small-cap and mid-cap markets. No sector of Nifty is on the green mark.
Overall, due to this sharp decline in the market, the market cap of BSE listed companies has declined by ₹ 7.80 lakh crore, which means there has been a huge decline of ₹ 7.80 lakh crore in the wealth of investors. Talking about equity benchmark indices, Sensex is currently trading 1,441.96 points (1.77%) down at 79,845.23, and Nifty 50 is down 449.25 points (1.78%) at 24,729.40. In early trade, Nifty had reached 24,645.10 and Sensex had reached 78,543.73.

The total market cap of all stocks listed on BSE as on February 27, 2026 was ₹4,63,50,671.27 crore. Today, as soon as the market opened on March 2, 2026, it reached ₹ 4,55,70,397.68 crore. This means that investors’ capital has declined by ₹7,80,273.59 crore.
Only one stock of Sensex is in green zone

Today 3,250 stocks are trading on BSE. Of these, 366 stocks are rising, 2,730 are declining, and 154 are unchanged. Additionally, 33 stocks hit one-year highs, and 559 hit one-year lows. While 56 stocks reached the upper circuit, 123 stocks reached the lower circuit.
